HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY

How you treat your jewelry will determine how long it last. A lot of people get lost in the usage of their jewelry neglecting to properly care for their jewelry. A quick disclaimer, we are not responsible for any damage you cause to your jewelry. However, we will give advice on how to make your jewelry last long so that you can get the utmost value for it.

  • Sterling silver or 925 silver: Generally, 925 or sterling silver will last almost forever, but this depends on how you take good care of it. Sometimes, it may seem as if the color is tarnishing, that is really not the case, so if this happens, it is usually removable by using a jewelry cleaning cloth. Another way is to wash it with your home toothpaste and a soft brush. Sterling silver or 925 and rhodium can interact with water without causing any damage to it but we don’t recommend doing it all the time.
  • Brass, alloy or Copper plated: Gold plated jewelry especially the ones made with brass, alloy or copper require close care. Since it is not karat gold, it will and can tarnish over eventually. However, if you are careful it can stay looking beautiful for a very very long time. We usually advise customers to avoid sweating too much on it and whenever that happens, to ensure to clean it and not allow the sweat dry out on it.
  • Rhodium Plated: This is almost same as 925 or silver sterling. It is not supposed to tarnish at all but to be sure, treat it with care as sterling silver jewelry
  • Stainless Steel: This is the most durable of all gold plated jewelry and the one we mostly recommend to customers looking for affordable jewelry. You can dip it in water, grease, dirt, oil, pretty much anything and it will look the same as the day you purchased it, however  it is still scratchable so try as much to prevent rubbing it on a hard surface.

SOME TIPS

Jewelry Cleaning chemical: Jewelry cleaning solution is good option to clean sterling silver, gold (not plated) and certain gemstones but do not over do it. If you leave your jewelry in jewelry cleaner or use it too much you can still ruin the jewelry.

Movement: Although most jewelry can take a hit, be careful not to randomly hit your jewelry against objects like tables, during exercising, while lifting items.

Just treat your jewelry with care and it will treat you back with its beauty. If it seems like a bad idea, don’t do it.
